Free Kundli Online (Janam Kundli in English)

Make your free kundli in English: your Vedic birth chart with lagna, Moon sign, nakshatra, planets in houses, dashas and navamsa, from your birth date, time and place.

A kundli (also spelled kundali, or janam kundli) is the Indian name for a Vedic birth chart: a map of where the planets stood against the stars at the moment and place you were born. It shows your lagna (rising sign), Moon sign, birth nakshatra, the planets in the twelve houses and your planetary periods (dashas). Enter your birth details below to make yours free, in plain English.

What a kundli is

"Janam" means birth, and a janam kundli is the chart cast for the moment you were born. In the US the same thing is usually called a Vedic birth chart. It uses the sidereal zodiac, about 24° behind the Western one in 2026, which is why your kundli may show different signs from a Western horoscope (here's why).

It is calculated with the Swiss Ephemeris, the Lahiri ayanamsa most Indian astrologers use, whole-sign houses and mean nodes for Rahu and Ketu.

What's in your kundli

Lagna (rising sign)

The sign rising in the east at your birth. It is the first house, and every other house is counted from it. It changes about every two hours, so it needs a birth time. See the lagna calculator.

Rashi (Moon sign)

The sign holding the Moon, read for your mind and emotions. "Your rashi" usually means this sign, and Vedic daily horoscopes are read from it. See the Moon sign calculator.

Nakshatra (birth star)

The one of 27 lunar mansions the Moon was in, with its pada (quarter). It adds detail the sign can't and sets where your dasha sequence begins. Read about yours in the nakshatra guide.

Planets in houses

All nine planets with sign, degree, house and nakshatra. The house shows where a planet works: the 7th for partnership, the 10th for career.

Dashas (planetary periods)

The Vimshottari system maps a life into planetary periods across a 120-year cycle. Your kundli lists each mahadasha with dates and marks the one you're in now. The mahadasha calculator explains each period.

Navamsa (D9)

The ninth-division chart, which gives every planet a second, finer placement, traditionally read for marriage and for the underlying strength of planets. See the navamsa calculator.

Your results also show your atmakaraka and whether you're in Sade Sati.

North Indian and South Indian chart styles

A printed kundli is usually drawn in one of two layouts holding the same information:

To be plain about it: this tool doesn't draw a chart in either style. It shows your kundli as tables, with each planet's sign, degree, house and nakshatra, plus your big three, dashas and navamsa signs. To draw one, copy the signs and houses into a blank chart.

Kundli matching

Kundli matching, the traditional check of two partners' charts, isn't offered here; this tool makes one kundli at a time. For relationships in your own chart, look at your 7th house, your Venus and your navamsa, or check your Moon sign's daily horoscope. You can also call Tara, AstroCall's AI astrologer, and talk through what your chart says about partnership.

Questions people ask

What is a kundli in English?

A kundli is a Vedic birth chart. In English it is usually called a birth chart, natal chart or horoscope chart. It records where the Sun, Moon, planets and the lunar nodes Rahu and Ketu were on the sidereal zodiac at your birth, along with your rising sign, the twelve houses, your birth nakshatra and your planetary periods.

Is this kundli really free?

Yes. The calculator is free, needs no account and doesn't save your birth details: your kundli is calculated when you press the button and forgotten when you leave. AstroCall's only paid product is phone time with Tara, its AI Vedic astrologer, for people who want their chart read out loud and their questions answered.

What details do I need to make my kundli?

Your date, time and place of birth. The place sets your time zone and the coordinates the chart is cast for. If you don't know your time, tick the box: you'll still get the planets' signs and your Moon sign, but not your lagna, houses or D9 rising sign, and dasha dates will be approximate.

Why doesn't my kundli match one from another site?

The usual reasons are a different ayanamsa, a different birth time or time zone, or a different house system. AstroCall uses the Lahiri ayanamsa and whole-sign houses. Other ayanamsas differ by about a degree, which only matters for planets near the edge of a sign or nakshatra. A wrong time zone for your birthplace can move the lagna entirely.
