Sade Sati Calculator and Dates for Every Moon Sign

Sade Sati is Saturn's roughly seven-and-a-half-year pass over your Moon sign. Here is how it works, who is in it now, and the dates for every Moon sign.

Sade Sati is the period when Saturn moves through the sign before your Moon sign, your Moon sign itself, and the sign after it, about 2.5 years each and roughly 7.5 years in total. It comes around about every 30 years. Saturn has been in sidereal Pisces since March 29, 2025, so right now Pisces Moons are in the peak phase, Aquarius Moons are in the final phase, and Aries Moons are in the opening phase.

Sade Sati is counted from your Vedic Moon sign, which is often different from your Western Moon or Sun sign. Don't know your Moon sign? Enter your birth details and the calculator shows it, and tells you whether you are in Sade Sati now.

The three phases

Saturn spends about two and a half years in each sign, so Sade Sati falls into three phases of about 2.5 years. "Sade sati" simply means "seven and a half."

Rising phase: Saturn in the 12th sign from your Moon

The opening phase tends to be about endings and clearing. Things that no longer fit start to fall away, and you may want more quiet time and spend more of it thinking than doing. It is a good time to finish old business and let go of commitments you have outgrown.

Peak phase: Saturn over your Moon sign

The middle phase is the most personal. Saturn sits on the sign of your Moon, which Vedic astrology reads as the mind, so moods can feel heavier and responsibilities closer to home. People often describe it as a time of growing up: facing what has been avoided, taking on more and seeing clearly what matters to them.

Setting phase: Saturn in the 2nd sign from your Moon

The final phase moves the focus to speech, family and what you have built up. It is often a time of consolidating: putting the lessons of the last five years into steady routines, being more careful with words and commitments, and rebuilding at a sustainable pace.

Is Sade Sati bad?

Sade Sati has a reputation, but it is better understood as a demanding season than a curse. Saturn is the planet of time, effort and structure. When it passes over the Moon, life tends to ask for more patience and responsibility, and shortcuts work less well. Plenty of people build careers, finish degrees, get married or start families during Sade Sati. What it asks for is steady effort, realistic plans and honesty about what you can carry.

How it feels also depends on your whole chart. Where Saturn sits in your birth chart, the mahadasha you are running, and the house Saturn is passing through from your rising sign all shape the experience. Two people with the same Moon sign can have very different Sade Satis.

Who is in Sade Sati now: Saturn in Pisces

In the sidereal zodiac, Saturn entered Pisces on March 29, 2025. It moves into Aries on June 2, 2027, slips back into Pisces from about October 20, 2027 while retrograde, and enters Aries for good around February 23, 2028. While Saturn is in Pisces:

Next in line is Taurus: its Sade Sati begins when Saturn first enters Aries on June 2, 2027.

A Saturn transit through Pisces, apart from Sade Sati, is often read as a time for slowing down, tidying up loose ends and giving shape to beliefs and ideals. Where it lands in your own chart depends on your rising sign.

Sade Sati dates for every Moon sign

Dates are for Saturn's sidereal position with the Lahiri ayanamsa. When Saturn turns retrograde near a sign border, a Sade Sati can pause and restart, so some signs show a start or end that moves back and forth for a few months.

Questions people ask

Is Pisces in Sade Sati now?

Yes. If your Vedic Moon sign is Pisces, you are in the peak phase of Sade Sati, because Saturn has been in sidereal Pisces since March 29, 2025. The peak lasts until Saturn moves into Aries in 2027, and the full Sade Sati ends when Saturn leaves Aries in April 2030. This is counted from the Moon sign, not the Sun sign.

When does Sade Sati end for Aquarius?

For an Aquarius Moon, Sade Sati began in January 2020 and is now in its final, setting phase. Saturn leaves Pisces for Aries on June 2, 2027, returns to Pisces briefly while retrograde from late October 2027, and leaves for good around February 23, 2028. That is when the Aquarius Moon Sade Sati fully ends.

When does Sade Sati start for Aries?

It already has. For an Aries Moon, Sade Sati began when Saturn entered sidereal Pisces on March 29, 2025. The peak phase starts when Saturn enters Aries in 2027, and the setting phase follows when it moves into Taurus in 2030. The whole period runs until Saturn leaves Taurus in 2032.

How do I know if I am in Sade Sati?

You need your Vedic Moon sign, which comes from your birth date, time and place. If Saturn is currently in the sign before your Moon sign, in it, or in the sign after it, you are in Sade Sati. The calculator above finds your Moon sign and checks this for you, along with the dates of your next Sade Sati.

Is Sade Sati based on the Moon sign or Sun sign?

The Moon sign. Sade Sati measures Saturn's distance from the Moon, which Vedic astrology reads as the mind and emotional life. It also uses the sidereal zodiac, so your Moon sign may differ from the one a Western chart gives. Check your Vedic Moon sign before reading any Sade Sati forecast.

How many times does Sade Sati happen in a lifetime?

Saturn returns to the same place roughly every 29.5 years, so most people go through Sade Sati two or three times. Each time tends to match the stage of life you are in: the first often around school and family, later ones around work, responsibility and what you want to leave behind.
