Vedic Horoscope Today

Daily horoscopes for all 12 Moon signs, worked out from where the planets really are in the sidereal zodiac.

A Vedic horoscope is read from your Moon sign, not your Sun sign. Pick the sign your Moon was in at birth: today's reading follows the Moon through your houses, with the Sun setting the month, Jupiter the year and Saturn the longer stretch.

Today the Moon is in Leo. See its nakshatra.

Choose your Moon sign

The dates under each sign are when the Sun is in it this year in the sidereal zodiac. Your Moon sign is a different thing: find it with the free Vedic birth chart.

How these horoscopes work

Every horoscope here is calculated, not written for a date in advance. Each morning the page looks up which sign the Moon, Sun, Jupiter and Saturn are in, counts that sign from your Moon sign, and shows the reading for that house. The Moon changes sign about every two and a half days, the Sun every month, Jupiter about once a year and Saturn every two and a half years, so the four parts move at very different speeds.

This is the traditional Vedic method, called gochara. It describes the weather everyone with your Moon sign shares. Your own chart adds the rest: your rising sign, the houses each planet rules for you, and the planetary period (dasha) you are living through.

Questions people ask

Should I read my horoscope by my Sun sign or Moon sign?

In Vedic astrology, by your Moon sign (rashi). Daily transits are traditionally counted from the sign your Moon was in at birth, because the Moon describes your mind and moods. Your Moon sign is often different from your Western Sun sign, so use the free birth chart to find it.

How is a Vedic horoscope worked out?

From where the planets really are today in the sidereal zodiac. Each planet's sign is counted from your Moon sign to find the house it is passing through: the Moon sets the day's tone, the Sun the month's, Jupiter the year's, and Saturn the longer stretch.

Why is my Vedic sign different from my Western sign?

Vedic astrology measures the zodiac from the stars, Western astrology from the seasons. The two are about 24 degrees apart now, so most people's signs move back one. Your Moon sign can move too.

Is a daily horoscope the same as a personal reading?

No. A daily horoscope is shared by everyone with the same Moon sign. A personal reading uses your exact birth time and place: your rising sign, houses, and the dasha period you are in, which a horoscope can't see.
